Our neighbors home is up for sale – no more renters

by The Shopping Maniac

Yeah! Our neighbors house is up for sale! I’m so happy!

The “for sale” sign went up on their lawn yesterday! Hopefully, if they manage to sell the house we won’t have to put up with any more awful renters!

So happy! LOL

I’m still shaking my head over how the last renters apparently stole the living room and dining room chandeliers from the house! Can you believe the nerve of those people?

I have a feeling that the house next door might take a little while to sell. I know it needs a new furnace and the air conditioning doesn’t work at all … plus there’s been absolutely no renovations to the house, ever. Oh and the owners son took out the washing machine and didn’t put a new one in before putting the house up for sale … so I’m sure all of those things will bring the price down.

The news tonight said the the average price of a home in Toronto in March was something like $435,000 but they’re asking $375,000 for it and considering that it needs work I don’t think they’ll get much more than three hundred for it. So it will be a few weeks or maybe even months before we find out who our new neighbors might be …

I’m just going to keep my fingers crossed that the home owners family doesn’t get discouraged and take the house off the market again like they did a year and a half ago when they tried to sell it for a too high price.

Our terrible renter neighbors are GONE!

by The Shopping Maniac

I’m very pleased to say that our awful renter neighbors moved out last week! Yeah! I think it was Friday the 19th of March when I woke up to see a big moving van outside of the house.

They were about to be evicted on the 23rd so I guess they took the hint and moved out on their own.

I can’t believe how much stress both my husband and I were living under while they were in the house beside us. The guy was a known criminal who’d robbed his own dad and sister and had just gotten out of jail before moving in beside us. We were living with our doors locked all the time and didn’t feel comfortable leaving the house without anyone being home.

It was terrible!

You know what .. when they moved out they must have stolen the two glass chandeliers that was made the 89 year old home owner when she used to work in a glass factory. They were nice chandeliers too. Disgusting that they were stolen … but of course after the first renters broke park of one of them you’d have thought the family would have removed the chandeliers before renting the house out again (to even worse people as it turned out).

When the home owners gained entry into the house (they had to wait for the sheriff to officially turn the house back over to them so that didn’t happen until last Friday) they found a mess.

They say they’re going to sell the house, but for now they’re looking for free insurance quotes just to cover things while the house stands empty.

I’m so happy that they aren’t going to rent again. We’ve had two bad renter neighbors in a row because the home owners didn’t check out their prospective renters properly. I could only imagine how bad a third renter would be! Thankfully we don’t have to go through that again!

Have you lived next door to bad neighbors? Ones that made you scared to leave your house?

Just getting over pneumonia

by The Shopping Maniac

Wow it’s been a while since I’ve written in this blog. Well the reason is that darn cold that I had from January through to March (ok it was two colds in a row I think) eventually turned into pneumonia. Figures doesn’t it.

I was feeling so bad at one point two weeks ago that my husband took me to the hospital. When they put the finger pulse oximeter on me my oxygen rate was only 88%. My chest was heavy and I had trouble breathing and my head was foggy. It was awful.

The good news is that I’m starting to feel better so you should start to see more posts from me in the near future!

I hope that all my readers have a very Happy Easter weekend or if you aren’t celebrating then perhaps just a great long weekend. Enjoy!
