House getting gutted

by The Shopping Maniac

It looks like there’s going to be a lot of work done on a house down the street from us. It’s actually a house that I used to complain about when we had bad renters beside us … because the bad renters used to go to that house all the time to do “illegal” things if you know what I mean. We called it the crack head house.

Luckily the owner of that house wised up and kicked his renters out about a year ago as well and now it seems he’s going to either gut the house or tear down part of it. I saw a skid steer parked in front of the house earlier today so I think they’re going to bulldoze part of the house.

With renters in the house for so long I wouldn’t be surprise if the inside is in bad shape.

Thinking of getting a new eBook reader

by The Shopping Maniac

I’ve had a Kindle now for about two and a half years. I think my Kindle was the second version of the Kindle, but given the new versions that have come out and other ebook readers I’m seriously considering getting either a new Kindle or some other type of ebook reader.

I’m not thinking of getting a new Kindle just because I want all of the new features … no, it’s because my current one is acting up a little bit. Or at least I think it is. It sometimes takes a while to turn a page or to go back to the Home page. It’s just slower all around. I’m starting to think that the battery might be getting old or something.

So … if I do get a new ebook .. should I get a new Kindle or should I get a different kind of eBook reader like a Kobo or something else?

When did changing a light bulb get so hard?

by The Shopping Maniac

I went to walk into my kitchen a couple of hours ago and it was in complete darkness. The light in the oven exhaust hood finally went out.

Off I went to find a new light bulb for the fixture. I knew it took a normal light bulb but what I didn’t know was that I was about to have a lot of trouble getting the light in place! All the have just a little bit of light in the kitchen without having all the overhead lights on. Sigh … In the end I had to get a screw driver and take out a couple of screws and flat washers just to get at the area with the light.

Now I’m not happy with the light that I put in. I put in CF bulb and I think the box said “day light” color .. but my kitchen now has a greenish light cast and I HATE it. I don’t think I want to use the rest of the lights in the box. Too bad they’re so expensive! Maybe I can trade them for some I like better.

A lot of doctors visits?

by The Shopping Maniac

My husbands been going to the doctor a lot in the last six months or so. Often I don’t even know about his appointments until after he’s had them or long after he’s had them when the receptionist calls our house to tell him that some blood test he’s had has come back abnormal.

I really don’t know why my husband is seeing his doctor so much. He’s being very secretive about it. For all I know he’s getting herpes testing or something. I’m half joking, but who knows .. I mean, we are in the midst of getting separated so anything is possible I suppose. He’s had appointments with a dietician and a gastroenterologist though so I’m concerned that something might be wrong with him, but he’s not talking. I guess he doesn’t have to if he doesn’t want to but I hope there’s nothing serious going on.
