A mini family reunion

Well it looks like we have a big family get together this weekend. My husbands niece is coming to visit from Chicago with her new husband. It will be her first visit to Canada since she was married in June.

So … several family members are meeting up at the in-laws this weekend for a “family reunion” of sorts. I’m not sure what is all planned, but I’m sure there will be lots of food and likely at least one argument … or two.

I’m hoping that while we’re in the country we can get everyone together and go out for a hike. I got my husband some Gaerne Boots and I’d love him to get a chance to break them in on a good hike and that area would be perfect for it. I guess we’ll see what the weather is like. I know it’s supposed to rain on Saturday, but Sunday is supposed to be nice … of course that’s when the family reunion is going to be going on ..

It’s going to be a busy weekend. Oh and then on Tuesday it’s my Birthday! I don’t have any plans yet. I guess I’ll see how I feel after the busy weekend before I decide what I want to do on my birthday.

My husband is on temporary layoff again

My husband is on one of his temporary lay off weeks again. This is the second one this summer and if history repeats itself he’ll have two more weeks or temporary layoffs at the end of the year. Not very good when you don’t have much money to work with to pay the bills to begin with as it is!

So it seems that every time my husband has one of his weeks off he goes out of town. He’s at his parents house right now helping them out by fixing things around their house.

Part of me doesn’t mind him going away and helping out his family but part of me wants him to stick around and well … I guess get some stuff done around our house too. I mean … I’ve been living in a house with stalled renovations for uh … six years now and my husband all of a sudden has all this extra time on his hands .. maybe just maybe he could work with me to put the ceiling up in our living room dining room? Nope? Nah … he just called and he’s running off to some store to get some polaris sportsman parts. I have no idea what they are but he needs them.

He was supposed to be home tomorrow evening but now he says he might not be back until Thursday … Big Sigh … Oh well maybe we’ll get some work done this weekend.

Hunting for a good life insurance policy

So my husband and I have been talking this evening about how we do not have life insurance. It’s not like we do anything dangerous like stunt driving or jumping from airplanes or anything, but maybe it would be a good idea to have life insurance.

So … I’m starting to look into some policies and from what I can tell it looks like I’m most interested in trying to find the best term life insurance premiums. Hopefully I can find some policies with decent prices. My husband and I don’t have a lot of spare cash these days so we don’t even know if we can afford something like life insurance … so we’ll have to see what happens.

The noisy neighbors are back Argh

My immediate next door neighbors were very quiet for the last two weeks and it was pure heaven.

My neighbors have been extremely noisy this year. Their toddler has been going through the terrible two’s and we’re also bearing the brunt of the noise. She’s running around slamming doors, screaming and banging her feet and all that noise really comes into our house at all hours of the day and night and it seems that her parents don’t want to do anything at all to stop her. It’s been going on for 6 months.

So .. when the noise suddenly stopped two weeks ago it didn’t take me too long to figure out that the mother and daughter had gone away on vacation for a while. The father stuck around but he seems to be the quieter of the three of them.

Unfortunately my peace and quiet is over. It’s after 10pm and I can hear the little girl running circles in their living room next door. She’s thumping around so much that the couch I’m sitting on as I type is shaking. Yes she’s a heavy footed little girl! God I hope that I never get any baby shower invitations from them for any new siblings! I can’t imagine how noisy their house would be with more kids! One kid and their already driving me nuts.






Trying to encourage my husband to keep on blogging

My husband hasn’t been writing in his blogs as much as he used to. I’m trying to figure out a way to get him interested in blogging again.

I think part of the reason is because he usually ends up doing his work on the desktop computer and I don’t think he likes sitting there as much as he used to. So … I’m thinking about looking at clearance laptops to see if I can find a decent yet inexpensive laptop for him. He might enjoy being able to blog where ever he wants to write a lot more.

I think the other reason he’s slacked off on the blogging is because he just hasn’t been finding topics to talk about that really interest him. He’s a musician, but articulating his interests in the written word isn’t that easy for him. His posts are good when he does write so I’m going to keep encouraging him.
