A quick shopping trip

by The Shopping Maniac

When my husband got home from work tonight we hopped in the car and drove off to the closed Costco. We had to get there before the store closed at 8:30 pm and my husband hadn’t returned home from work until about 7:45 pm!

Needless to say once we got to the store our shopping trip was rushed. I only had to pick up one thing, but well, you know how shopping trips go – I think we ended up buying about 5 items! The most expensive thing was a therapy light that I need to use for Seasonal Affective Disorder .. my doctor seems to think I might be suffering from S.A.D. . I don’t think so but it’s worth trying for a couple of weeks – I did make sure that I could return the light!

While we were in line to pay for our items my husband noticed that the man in front of us was wearing radii shoes. Now he wants a pair. I have to admit that they’re kind of cool looking sneakers. Hmmm … maybe for Christmas.

Oh .. once we got home it started snowing heavily so we just made it home in time! I’m glad we didn’t have to drive in that storm!

Long term rehab or rapid detox?

by The Shopping Maniac

Wow, I wish when I was quitting smoking last month I’d heard about rapid detox … maybe it would have made quitting that much easier?

Nah … rapid detox isn’t meant to help people who are doing things like quitting smoking. It’s for even more serious additions like opiate drug addiction. It’s a pretty heavy duty form of detox. I’m sure it’s not for everyone!

I think anyone that can manage to quit anything they’ve been addicted to deserves a big congratulations no matter how they manage to quit. Have you heard of rapid detox before?

Taking my vitamins

by The Shopping Maniac

In the last few months I started taking vitamin and mineral supplements. I never really liked taking supplements in the past, but considering that I have Crohns disease and my blood work has been showing that I’m deficient in some vitamins and minerals my doctor and I thought it would be a good idea to start taking one a day vitamins.

I think it’s helping. I don’t feel quite as tired as I used to and I generally feel better. Over all there’s no big change, but I do think the vitamins are helping. I’m seeing my family doctor next week and I think she’s going to do some blood tests so I guess we’ll find out if the multi-vitamins have been helping my various deficiencies.

Do you take vitamins or supplements regularly?

Our new neighbors are taking their time moving in

by The Shopping Maniac

Our new neighbors were at their house this evening. Yeah, they still haven’t moved in! Can you believe that? I think they bought the house next door in early May and here it is almost the end of November and the house is still empty!

Two weeks ago they came by the house for a day with a few friends or relatives and they literally knocked all the plaster off the walls! They gutted the house! They hadn’t been back since – well until tonight.

I have a feeling they won’t be moving in until next spring seeing as they have to put up walls and do a lot of renovations now. LOL Oh and I think my new neighbor might be pregnant. When we were talking to them this evening I happened to see a bottle of prenatal multivitamin in the bag she was holding. Maybe it wasn’t for her, but if it is, then they’d better get that house done fast!

Have you ever had new neighbors that took almost a year to move in? This is the second time that it’s happening to us. The neighbors on the other side of us took a long time to move in as well and the house has been sold twice in the time we’ve lived here too so it’s been empty for maybe a full year of the almost 10 years we’ve been in the neighborhood.

A month and a half of being a non-smoker

by The Shopping Maniac

I just realized that it’s been almost a month and a half since my husband and I quit smoking. Yeah for us!

I still get cravings, but it seems that this week they aren’t coming daily or if they are they are so quick that I’m barely noticing them. A week or two ago I wasn’t sure I’d get to this point!

Actually I don’t think that most people I know, or those who’ve read my posts about quitting smoking thought I’d make it this far. From the time I first announced that I quit smoking (2 days in) I started getting somewhat negative congratulations. You know, people that were saying good for you, but we’ll see if you’re still not smoking next week or next month etc.

In the last month and a half I’ve also had lots of tips as to how to stay quit. A lot of people have suggested that I try everything from lozenges to nicorette gum to maybe trying to order electronic cigarettes so that I can maintain my non smoking status … but you know what I haven’t needed any extra help. I’m still taking Zyban so maybe that’s why I don’t need any extra no smoking aids, but I’m probably through the worst of it by now. I hope I am anyway!

Here’s hoping that I continue to be a non-smoker!
