Spa, shopping and dinner with the girls tomorrow

by The Shopping Maniac

I’m getting together with a few of my girlfriends tomorrow. I’ve been on the phone all evening it seems putting together an interesting weekend.

We’re going to meet downtown for lunch and then we all have appointments for facials at a spa. Sounds good? Uh huh. Then if we aren’t too relaxed after our time in the spa we’re going to go down to the fashion district and shop till we drop!

I just have to try to keep one of my friends out of office furniture supplies stores! LOL She just got a new job managing an office -actually setting up the business – so I’m sure she’ll have work on her mind since she’s responsible for buying all the furniture and supplies they need to set up shop.

Once we’ve finished shopping we have reservations at a fantastic french restaurant. I haven’t been there for a long time so I’m really looking forward to dinner. Then we’ll see how the rest of the evening goes.

I have a feeling I’ll be sleeping in on Sunday!

Freckles – everywhere!

by The Shopping Maniac

I’ve been spending so much time in the sun over the last couple of weeks that I’m getting freckles!

I’ve been using sunscreen, so I haven’t burned or really tanned, but the freckles are coming out anyway. Darn fair skinned Irish blood. LOL

Oh well, the freckles aren’t too bad, although I know if I don’t use wrinkle creams that work to block UV as well as moisturize my skin and add sunscreens to the mix that by the end of summer my freckles will start to join together and I’ll be one big freckle.

Do you get freckles when you’ve been in the sun too? What do you do about them? Maybe I should get a skin cream that fades blemishes?

The irony – I look better when I’m sick than I do when I’m healthy

by The Shopping Maniac

I was just saying in one of my last posts how I’ve been constantly battling illnesses this year and now I’m enjoying a lovely Crohn’s flare (NOT!).

One of the really odd things about me is that when I’m not feeling well I tend to not look too bad. Most people can’t tell I’m sick. Well .. ok those two colds I had this year don’t count because when I get a cold it’s bad bad bad … there’s no way someone couldn’t tell that I have a cold what with how red my nose gets and the chapped peeling skin around my nose. LOL

I think when I’m not feeling so hot that instead of turning pale or even gray like some people do I must get more color in my normally pale face. That must be why people never think I’m as sick or feel as awful as I say I am .. after all they’re looking at nice healthy pink cheeks.

Strange isn’t it? Do you look worse or better when you’re sick?

Anyway .. this time around … perhaps because I’ve been constantly sick for four long months … I do look awful. I haven’t been sleeping well the last few days and I feel exhausted. If I were to lay down right now I think I could easily fall asleep.

I have dark circles under my eyes right now. It’s terrible! I think when I feel a little better … good enough to at least go to the drug store I’ll look for some eye cream for dark circles and perhaps some concealer. I’m pretty sure if I use those products I’ll be back to feeling sick but looking healthy. LOL

Any recommendations for eye creams for dark circles under the eye or concealers? I have a few ideas, but I’m always interested in learning what products others like to use as well.

Anyway … since I’m feeling so bad no ones going to see me for a few days … if I need anything badly enough my husband can go out and get it for me when he gets home from work.

Moisturizers are so expensive!

by The Shopping Maniac

I guess this is skin care week here at Shopping Maniac. I spent some time today doing some research on facial moisturizers and I managed to find some great eye creams, day time cream and the best night cream for my sensitive slightly dry skin.

What gets me is that there are so many choices out there and a wide price range. Since we’re on a budget I can’t go spending 50 to 75 bucks or more on a cream – especially one with just one specific purpose like a night cream or eye cream.

Why are moisturizers so expensive? Do the products really warrant those big price tags or is it just business? If it’s just business then business must be booming!

Good moisturizers

by The Shopping Maniac

Huh – I was just doing a search for under eye creams and I came across phisoderm moisturizer. I didn’t know they made a moisturizer.

When I was a teen there was a skin cleanser that came in a big bottle with a pump on it. I’m sure it was called Phisoderm.

Anyway I’m still on the hunt for good moisturizers. I have sensitive skin and often flare up with allergies so I need a moisturizer that doesn’t irritate my skin. Any ideas?
