Struggling in this economy

by The Shopping Maniac

I know the economy is supposedly getting better but there’s still a lot of unemployed people out there.

Our next door neighbors for example … They both got laid off from their IT Jobs in late 2008 (I think) and then, to top things off they had a baby last February, plus they’d only bought their house in June 2008 so when you add everything up it wasn’t very good that they both lost their jobs.

The woman next door got a new job a few months ago, but her husband is still looking. I feel bad for them.

I certainly hope that now that the economy is truly getting better that he gets a new job soon too.

I know that my husband and I have been struggling. I’m on very extended medical leave and my husbands job is only part time although he does work 4 days a week and gets a pay premium for part time. It’s hard but we’ve been careful with our money and expenses so we’re surviving.

How are you doing? Have you managed to keep your job during this recession or did you lose it and have to struggle like so many others have?

Signs the economy is improving

by The Shopping Maniac

I think I found a positive sign that the economy is getting better. I’ve noticed over the last few months that the magazines that I read regularly are getting thicker.

Huh? Well .. they do have a few more articles than they did a year or so ago … but most of the extra heft of the magazines is an increase in full page and half page advertisements. I guess advertisers are more willing to put money into promoting their products via magazine ads. Of course a lot of the extra new ads are for the best fat burners but it’s a start.

I’ve also noticed that I’m getting more private advertising interest on some of my blogs and websites and my Adsense earnings have gone up over last year at this times earnings.

Have you been noticing signs that the economy is improving whether it’s your earnings going up or an increase in some kind of advertising that you’ve noticed?
