Distracted by Pawn Stars

by The Shopping Maniac

My husband’s watching an episode of Pawn Stars while I work on the computer.

I’ve never seen the show and there’s certainly some interesting items being shown! One man brought in a gold coin that might be from the 1700’s – Peruvian gold. It seems they buy gold coins, old cars and trucks, and even an old Woody Woodpecker toy from the late 40’s to early 50’s.

Obviously I’m not getting much work done on my websites as I’m watching the show more than I’m working on my computer. LOL As I said some of the items are fascinating.

I’m not sure the people selling their items to the Pawn Stars are being all that savvy .. when the pawn shop owner is interested they say “what are you lookin’ to get for this” and the seller says what he or she wants. Personally … I’d say – What do you think it’s worth? I mean what if they think it’s worth a lot more than I’m hoping to get? I would have sold myself short.

Do you watch Pawn Stars? As i said this is the first episode that I’ve seen, but I’d watch it again if I came across it.

Two plus weeks since I quit smoking

by The Shopping Maniac

Well it’s been just a little more than two weeks since I quit smoking! Yeah for me!

I smoked for more than 25 years so it was a big deal to quit.

Actually … it was a big deal to work up to quitting – once I actually did it I just had to keep myself from lighting up and getting through the first few days. I took a medication to help me quit – Zyban and it helped a lot.

I quit cold turkey in the past and all I can remember is being in a blind rage the whole time .. this time I get a little anxious here and there, but for the most part I’m feeling pretty good.

One of the things that I did shortly after quitting was to join an online forum – just for support. It’s helped a lot. Oh and on that forum a lot of people swear by this book written by allen carr that helped them quit smoking. Obviously I did it without the book – but the forum helps.

Anyone else quit smoking recently? How did you do in the first couple of weeks?

Sensitive skin and skin care products

by The Shopping Maniac

I’m trying to find a new skin care treatment. I don’t know why, but over the last year, I’ve had a lot of problems with my skin.

I’ve had a lot more breakouts and blemishes than I ever have. My main problem is that I have very sensitive skin so I can’t use harsh skin treatments to cure any blemishes so I need to find the best natural acne treatment that’s also mild or easy on sensitive skin.

I was wondering if any of you also have sensitive skin and blemishes? What kind of products do you use to treat your skin and or prevent break outs? Any suggestions?

Time to decorate the house for Christmas?

by The Shopping Maniac

Wow, it’s hard to believe, but there are less than two months until Christmas!

Of course, if you’ve been shopping in the stores in my area (Toronto) it’s been looking like Christmas for the last month or so – but more so now that our Thanksgiving is over.

I didn’t decorate the house the last few years, but I want to decorate this year. I want to ditch the old lights and get some LEDs. Actually … it will be getting cool here soon, so it would be a good idea for us to get our lights up soon. It’s much easier to put the outdoor lights up when the weather isn’t too cold rather than when it’s already cold or worse – snowing!

I have tons of indoor decorations – two trees, even antique or vintage decorations. The only thing I don’t have is Snow cap stockings to hang on the mantle. I’d love to get one for my husband and one for myself.

Do you decorate your house at Christmas time? Do you just decorate the inside of the house or do you decorate the outside as well?

Found a great Vitamin and Bulk food store

by The Shopping Maniac

My husband and I were shopping on the weekend and we happened to visit a very interesting store while we were in a shopping mall.

The store was called Healthy Planet. It’s mainly a vitamin store, but it also sells health foods, organics and some bulk items.

We were amazed by how large their selection was, and their prices were great as well. Vitamins that we normally buy in other stores were about two or three dollars cheaper per bottle at Healthy Planet.

My husband, who’s hair is getting a little thin at the top, even found some information about a website called www.stressandhairloss.net. He plans to visit the site this weekend to get some information. Who knows, maybe he can stop or slow his hair loss.

We didn’t have a lot of time to look around the store, but I’d like to go back soon and take a better look at their bulk foods. I don’t know why, but I love buying bulk foods. LOL
