My dog is obsessed with cardboard

by The Shopping Maniac

My dog is a nut. She’s crazy for cardboard. Right now she’s pestering my husband by throwing small pieces of cardboard at him.

She’s literally tossing the pieces from her mouth so that they land on his chest. He happens to be lying down on the couch so her aim is pretty good from where she’s standing.

It’s hilarious.

When she’s not throwing the cardboard at us, she’ll chew it up or roll around on her back while she chews on a piece, or she’ll chew a small piece in her mouth like gum.

Now she’s throwing pieces at me … LOL the piece she threw at me says Téléphones cellulaires I guess it’s from a cell phone box.

Does your dog do silly things or have an obsession? My dog, Midnight, literally comes running if she hears us opening up a box or sees us getting ready to throw away something made of cardboard.

I think my dog has an allergy or something

by The Shopping Maniac

I was just playing with my dog. She’s a Labrador Retriever and play each day is pretty much a necessity.

As we were playing she rolled over on her back for a belly rub and I noticed a spot on the inside of her leg that I’m sure wasn’t there a few days ago. It kind of looks like eczema.

I’m not sure if dogs can get eczema or not, but that’s what it looks like. I know they can develop allergies and skin problems so I guess I’d better figure out what this is and see if it needs to be treated. Maybe it’s just a bug bite that she scratched, that got irritated so it looks funny?

Anyone familiar with skin problems on dogs?

Putting our dog on a diet

by The Shopping Maniac

Last weekend we took our dog, a black Lab, to the vet for her annual check up and shots.

We were a little behind! She was due for her shots and check up in May! Oh well .. we made it there and she had her annual workup and vaccines. We also found out that she’s just a little overweight. Not really bad … she’s 74 lb and compared to most of the labs that we see in our neighborhood she’s smaller in size and bulk than they are!

However the vet was worried that now that she’s going to be three years old and has a couple extra pounds on her that it will get harder and harder for her to take it off. He’d just finished an elbow operation on another dog and he was just trying to be nice as he doesn’t want her to develop joint problems as she gets older.

Hmmm maybe I should look at some apidexin reviews? Put her on a diet?

Actually since our visit to the vet we did start giving her a little less of her food. If it weren’t so hot we’d upping her activity as well.

Have you ever had a dog that needed to lose a little bit of weight? If so – how did you get your dogs weight down to an acceptable level?

All I want to do is garden today – but I can’t!

by The Shopping Maniac

I think today is going to be a big shopping day. Groan.

Oh yeah, my husband and I were out shopping yesterday – but it wasn’t really for the normal household things we need. Nope, I was looking for new eye glasses and not having much fun or luck finding a style that suits my face.

Today we have to go out to the pet store to get dog food for our Lab. We also have to go to the grocery store to pick up a few supplies for the week. Now that I think about it we also need to hit a place like Home Depot to get some manure and or compost for the garden as well as a new weed whacker – ours died last year and since we have built up garden beds we need a weed whacker to get rid of the grass that grows close to the raised stones.

I also want to get another smoke detector for the main floor of our house. By law you’re supposed to have one on each floor of your house (at least here in Toronto) and we only have smoke detectors on the second floor and in the basement. Oops!

I also want to look at a cell phone booster because our phone just doesn’t seem to be getting the reception that it used to. hmm maybe we should just get a new cell phone?

It’s going to be a busy day and I really don’t want to go shopping. Uh huh … What I really want to do is spend some time in my garden! It needs a good tidying up as everything has been growing like crazy!

What are your plans for today, Sunday … a supposed day of rest?
