Ready to start looking for work

by The Shopping Maniac

I was just saying on my other blog that I’ve been feeling a lot better lately. I think I might be able to return to work in a few months. Well … provided things keep going well.

I’ve been off work on sick leave for almost 5 years! That’s a huge amount of time to be stuck at home! Now that I’m actually starting to feel a bit better I can see myself at least working part time again.

Maybe I’ll start browsing around to see what kind of healthcare job listings are being advertised right now. I think I still have my ER job to go back to .. but who knows, I could get stuck on a medical floor … so we’ll see.

Have you ever been off work for a long period due to an illness? Did it feel strange going back to work after so long?

Well, I won’t be surprised if your position was already given to someone else or if there aren’t any at all. Being away for 5 years is like losing your job already. Personally, it’s good that you are able to get over your health issues. Goodluck!

Trisha no, I’m still an employee of the hospital and they legally have to hold my position – at least for a few months longer.

Also, I’m an ER nurse – so even if they have filled my specific position there will (should) be another slot when I’m ready to return as it’s not easy to find nurses who already have the training and temperament needed to work in an emergency department. I loved working in the ER and that’s just where I want to return if and when I’m able.
